This museum, occupies enormous territory, in some way it reminds polytechnic museum. Here there are great amount of halls with different exhibits. In the majority these are masterpieces of painting and sculpture. Guests of the city and Muscovites can enjoy works of classics: Picasso, Botticelli, Blake, Dali, Rafael Santi and Bernini. In 2012 museum celebrated 100 years from the foundation. More than 3000 inimitable masterpieces of painting, applied art and sculpture, including works of Van Dyck, Rubens, Poussin and Rembrandt.

The most important sections: antique art, works of medieval ages and Renaissance. First floor demonstrates exhibits from Ancient Egypt, European painting of 18-19 centuries, Italian and Greek courtyards which are filled with moulds of antique sculptures. Second floor contains masterpieces of ancient Greek art, Medieval ages, Rome and Renaissance.
