This is the only building not included in the the UNESCO list of the World Heritage objects. Experts considered it possible to include in this list only the Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin as a unique ensemble that retained its historical integrity.

Construction lasted 16 months, and 17 October 1961 the building was opened. Its facade is faced with white Ural marble and golden anodized aluminum. Above the main entrance there was a gilded coat of arms of the USSR, which was subsequently replaced by the coat of arms of the Russian Federation.

Most of this building is hidden in a depth of up to 15 meters. The building has 800 different rooms, including a conference hall for 6,000 people with a huge stage, as well as a banquet hall of maximum capacity. Nowadays, the palace is known as the most prestigious concert hall in Moscow.
