The Gallery of European and American Arts of XIX-XX centuries is located in a historic building. It is a villa of princes Golytsiny built in the end of the XVIII century in the early classical style. At different periods of time artists Surikov and Repin, composer Skriabin and writer and poet Boris Pasternak resided in that building. In the middle of the XIX century the building had an exposition of antique items from Golitsyn collection.

The Gallery is a branch of the Pushkin Museum of Arts. The exhibition is displayed in 26 halls and includes works by masters of the XIX and XX centuries. They represent various trends of art of that period, as well as show the style of various individual artists. One of the halls is dedicated to German art of the beginning of the XIX century.

It is worth visiting the Gallery of arts with a tour guide in English. The halls of the Gallery are small, and it enables the visitors to see familiar works of the famous artists at a new angle:

Art enthusiasts can enjoy works of French impressionists, post-impressionists and masters of the beginning of the XX century. The exhibition has paintings by Monet and Renoir , Sisley and Pissarro, Degas and Cézanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, Matisse, Picasso, Derain, Rousseau.

New exposition also includes works of other European schools of arts, as well as works of American artists. Among others you can see pictures by Kandidski, Shagal, Rodin and Bourdelle.
